NO PROCESSING FEE FOR BLOOD FROM EWS PATIENTS -- ORDERS DELHI GOVERNMENT

The Government of Delhi has agreed to the suggestion of EWS Monitoring Committee member Ashok Agarwal, Advocate that no processing fee should be charged by Delhi Government blood-banks for providing blood to EWS patients.

Earlier, on December 30, 2014, Ashok Agarwal, Advocate and member of EWS Monitoring Committee through his letter had raised this issue with the Principal Secretary (Health), GNCTD, citing the case of an EWS patient admitted to Bhagwati Hospital who was demanded processing fee at the rate of Rs.1,050 per unit by the GTB Hospital blood-bank, despite the fact that the patient had also arranged a blood-donor.
