Poor patient seeks free treatment of her total Hip replacement surgery in AIIMS - Delhi High Court issue notices to GOI, AIIMS and State of Bihar

Justice Manmohan of Delhi High Court today (02.02.2016) issued notices to GOI, AIIMS and State of Bihar on a petition filed by 35 years old poor patient Asha Devi from Bihar through Advocate Ashok Agarwal seeking directions against the AIIMS to provide her free treatment of total hip replacement surgery. The AIIMS has asked her to deposit Rs. one lakh 27 thousands in the hospital. The poor patient has no money to pay. Family is living in abject poverty. The High Court impleaded State of Bihar in the petition to ascertain as to why the poor patients from Bihar not getting free treatment in Bihar itself and are forced to come Delhi . The High Court passed an interim order directing AIIMS to immediate examine the petitioner and submit the status report on her heath condition before the next date of hearing. Next date of hearing is 19.02.2016.
