TODAY VISIT TO PUBLIC TOILETS ON LODHI ROAD, NEW DELHI

CASE OF EXPLOITATION
This man (caretaker of this toilet) told us that he has been employed through a contractor. He remains on duty for 24 hours and is paid only Rs. 5000/- per month. Even salary for the month of September has yet not been paid. It is a sheer case of exploitation for which New Delhi Municipal Council is responsible because this toilet belongs to them and they have to ensure that an employee employed therein is not exploited. The current statutory minimum wages for an unskilled worker in Rs. 8554/- per month and that too for working for 8 hours a day
